1968年11月出生,博士,中国科学院水生生物研究所研究员,博士生导师,中国水产学会水产生物技术专业委员会委员,《农业生物技术学报》和《遗传》编委。1991年毕业于南开大学生物系,获理学学士学位;2002年获中科院研究生院博士学位。主要从事鱼类生殖发育调控、鱼类基因工程育种、克隆胚胎再程序化机制等研究。主持国家自然科学基金重点项目、863项目、973课题及湖北省杰出青年人才基金等多项研究。以第一作者和通讯作者身份在Biology of Reproduction,PLoS One,General and Comparative Endocrinology,Marine biotechnology,Aquaculture以及《中国科学》等国内外刊物上发表论文30余篇,以第一发明人身份获美国发明专利1项,获中国发明专利2项。

鱼类基因工程学科组的研究工作发端于上世纪70年代末的鱼类细胞核移植试验:朱作言先生在著名实验胚胎学家童第周先生的领导下,通过合作研究完成鲤鲫间的细胞核移植,首次实现脊椎动物的种间克隆。上世纪80年代,朱作言先生领导开创鱼类基因转移研究新领域,研制世界首批快速生长的转基因鱼。以上成果作为近代中国科技领域的两大重要科研成就被载入《世界科学年史》(A. Hellemans & B. Bunch, 美国Simon & Schuster出版社)。[1]
