Village People(乡下人)，是创建于1977年的美国男子演唱组合。是由同性恋组成的组合（乡村基佬），最初创建的创意是COS同性恋流行的幻想角色，起步时因为同性恋当时不受大众理解，所以小范围出道，后来歌曲的火热迅速领他们进入主流。他们最著名的一首歌当属《YMCA》。
YMCA全称：Young Men's Christian Association，.《基督教青年会》创作灵感来源于当时的社会团体：基督教青年，是为男青年提供健身和临时住宿的福利场所，向来就是同性恋者的渔场。由于《YMCA》在同性恋以及异性恋世界范围中的流行和另一首《I Will Survive》都被视为女权主义和同性恋运动的圣歌。

歌曲鉴赏《基督教青年会》（YMCA）是由一支同性乐队创作的一首带有很浓重同志色彩的歌曲，"Village People" 的演唱组，他们穿上制服——各名歌手分别代表建筑工、印第安人、牛仔、警察、皮条族和士兵——构成对所谓传统的的男子汉气概和当代社会歧视的绝妙讽刺。而歌中所唱的“呆在YMCA其乐无穷……这里有年轻男人所需的一切……你可以与其它年轻男人结伴而行”对许多同性恋来说简直是一目了然。
而歌曲的优异表现和火热迅速领他们进入主流，成为全世界流行的一首歌曲。
提起YMCA，估计80年代以后出生的朋友们大多不甚了了；而对于生于70年代或者更早一些的朋友来说，印象最深的大概莫过于那首存在众多不同语言翻唱版的Y-M-C-A以及那双手高高举过头顶（Y）、双手弯曲置于双肩（M）、双手向右（C）、双手面前交叉（A）的标志性集体舞蹈动作。当年这首歌曲在DISCO的流行程度至今让人难以忘怀，全场上下整齐一致的动作，将氛围急速推升至最HIGH点。
这首歌的火热程度在今天也有表现，第三届中国好声音，杨坤翻唱的就是这首歌；《匆匆那年》电影高中毕业聚会赵烨唱的歌曲；美国达人秀 第十一季第五场。
一首歌曲不仅跨越了国际，种族、时间，经久不衰，为人性的解放和融合与进步可谓做出了不小的贡献。
